Sega once and for all

Flashback time
Start of the new millennia and I'm more addicted to my seta then ever. I'm a proud member of the dreamcast family and I spend my day on two things... Soul Calibur and JET GRIND RADIO. Well today Sega has teased me with the blast from my not so distant past. Jet Grind Radio will be available again fairly soon and whatever it takes I'll be playing it once more. Oh how I miss my dreamcast and my host of overlooked games. If only I hadn't ditched it during a rough point in my life. Oh for the love of game if only I had remained strong.

What's old is new again

Love me some rock music. Fortunately two of my favorite bands released new albums this year.

Yes that right I ran out and bought Blink today and I must say I'm happy I did. Finally my truck is filled with sounds other then Foo Fighters or Eminem. I buy music rarely, but when I do invest I believe I make solid decisions as what would be worth listening to. What makes me sad is my change of taste these days.

Blink isn't the only former favorite to release new material, but my former faves brought forth material that, though honest to their original sound, I just didn't feel myself getting into. This being the fact has made me question has my taste completely changed with age. I used to live and die musically based on a handful of artists: Staind, ICP, Eminem, and a collage of works from the Offspring, Green Day, Chili Peppers, and Foo. Now looking at my traveling CDs (yes I said CDs! I refuse to fold to Steve Jobs and his world dominating devices of control! Written on my iPad) I only bring along things done by Foo Fighters, Eminem and now Blink. Staind and AFI formerly my favorite artists don't even come close to making the cut for non radio listening, oddly enough AFI fueled electronica group BlaqAudio makes the cute when I feel like dancing though. (side note: by dance I mean slide my butt back and forth in my seat. Ya know like a dog with a funky itch.) though I can still fake some Juggalo swagger I'm so far outside of the Psychopathic Family it's mind-blowing to ever think I was one of them.
I guess what it all breaks down to is, 30 is as farm from 20 as humanly possible so it's only sensible for tastes to change. What I must recognize is those changes don't mean I'm in any way a different person they I ever was. I'm still the one and only D and the young D is still in me. Oh also recognizing things change with age this will be the last post where I ever make any mention of my quote unquote SWAGGER. Never again shall I type any form of Swagger or Swag. I'm far to mature to speak of the swagga as it's an ignorant word to begin with. As most have retired CRUNK from their vocabulary let me be the first to start the death of SWAGGER.

Happy Birthday to D

It's my birthday and I'll do what I want to

The day has arrived. 20 something is retired and 30 something done begun.

Happy to say I've made it, a few years back it was definitely touch and go. So the big number has arrived next milestone isn't for another decade, but we'll get to that coffin(40) when I come to it. Thirty years of life is an amazing milestone if you think of it. It means the teen years didn't do you in and the twenties didn't completely treat you wrong. 30 is all about survival, proof that the turbulence of life didn't do you in. I'm truly happy to say I'm a survivor. Happy Birthday to me so excuse me while I kiss the sky!

Almost Here

Final hours til I forge on into my 30s, and as the time comes closer I'm starting to feel the twinge of age creeping upon me. I've seen plenty of people panic about leaving their twenties over the years and I always vowed I'd never do the same. Now the time is here and though I feel I'm heading into the transition smoothly I do feel the time closing in on me like a vise. Now 30 is far from old, but I'll be damned if anyone implies it is young. Too early for a midlife crisis but to late for the drunken debauchery of the 20s. All I know is the 20 something days are closing....

Bring on the big THREE ZERO!

Still Counting

11 More days...

21: Now this is the year that is THE YEAR when it comes to being a twenty something. Now after the amazement which made up my 20th, 21 was tame by most standards. The first day of my 21st was quite eventful. It started with me officially becoming an employee of the San Mateo Safeway deli staff. A job that still ranks at the top of my many meaningless jobs. What made that so remarkable was simply the fact it was and still is the only job I've gained simply through knowing the right person. I didn't even have to interview. I only filled out an application simply so there could be some kind of legitimate paperwork.
So the day started pretty well, too bad the same could not be said for the night. So after an amazing party the year before I'm sad to report the grand party that is the 21st consisted of a smaller group of friends (most broke including myself) going to a Denny's and sadly hoping booze would be served (and of course that didn't happen, it's Denny's for heavens sake who ever thought they had booze for purchase was demented). Yes a truly sad party. I love times spent with friends as much as the next guy but that Denny's night was interesting to say the least. I made up for the craziness of the birthday party by going to Reno with my pops for my first shot at gambling. Came out 220 bucks ahead which is the last time I've ever came out ahead during a casino trip. Beginners luck for real.
Now the remainder of the year saw me stopping schooling to work full-time. A choice many think was the wrong one, but at the time it was definitely right for me and what I wanted to do. Outside of work I became more acquainted with the many bottles filled with tipsy causing juices. So needless to say there were many good times some of which are a bit of a haze to remember of course. 21 was the kind of fun I'm glad I had but don't think I would ever do it again.

World won't wait

Final countdown has begun. In two weeks time I will cease being a twenty something. So what shall be done to mark this momentous occasion? Let's go bowling then onto my first tattoo!

Everything will change on the thirteenth of February. On that day I will go from being a grown ass man to a full blown adult (and yes there us definitely a difference I swear). So to make it even more memorable than it already is I feel a good night out is in order. Why not stay up here and just have a night out in Stockton? It's quite simple really... STOCKTON SUCKS! Instead I've opted for Lucky Strike night. Bowling booze and whatever friends are readily available and if no one can make it that's all good I'll make new pals on the alley, stranger things have happened.

Big Change

This seems insane to me, but maybe now the world will make more sense to me. Guess it's just too true that things change when you are

Visualization is Key

**** The plan is in full swing. Going to end my 20s with a full on SoCal bang. Go to work on my birthday (yes, people at my job actually DO go to work on their Birthdays) then head down to LA for a good old scouting adventure. Capped off with a brand spanking new tattoo (my 1st for those counting). I figure what better way to enter full blown grown folks land then with a Tattoo to symbolize me still fighting nightly to hang onto my youth. ****This is going to be an awesome birthday weekend. Why not go big? Had an awesome final Xmas of my twenties so it only natural that I should follow it up with an amazing 1st birthday of my thirties. So this is a notice to all SoCal bound friends as well as all SoCal residing buddies. D is coming to LA and me and the wifey are going to rip shit up to celebrate another year of life. Don't forget people, I'm coming and FUN is coming with ME!

Greatest Xmas ever

Without fail this has been the best holiday I've had in my 29 years of living. The time has come to put childish things behind me this is true, but who says a grown ass man can't enjoy some of the simpler things in this life. I'm far too happy right now having gotten everything I needed and/or wanted. With these new goods I feel I can now enter my 30s with a new kind of focus on my near future then I ever had at anytime in my 20s. So let's all celebrate and enjoy our friends family and loved ones. I'm going to play with this new toy in order to master all it's possible applications for my life.

Coming to a close

FULL BLOWN ADULT STATUS NOW
It's almost over. The time is creeping away. The youthful soul is strong but the shell grows closer to being OLD. Yes I know 30 is just the beginning not close to an end. Midlife around the corner, but the crisis may have already begun.
Where am I going? What will I do? Am I truly good enough? Why do I do the things I do? These are the thoughts that constantly repeat in this brain of mine, when I was twenty these were just passing notions but as soon as I hit thirty dealing with these questions will take up the majority of my time.  Might as well start on them now. Might as well prepare to grab true answers.  In your 30s it's time to get to the Real of everything. 20s is time for thoughts and exploration 30s will be time for REALITY and RESPONSIBILITY (yeah doesn't sound to fun to me either).  So This is what I've decided to rededicate myself to doing what is BEST and will work best for me and my family. My 30s will bring me my prosperity. Of course I'm not thirty for another 58 day give or take a day (thats right age is making my math mind fade...ok time for some BRAIN AGE gaming). Well until my almost 60 days are up I'm going to milk all I can out of the remainder of my 20s. Yup some more flighty thoughts will be had and a possible random impulse will be acted upon here and there. So I bid you adieu 20s you've treated me well. 3os don't you go getting to excited not quite ready to welcome you.

Fun Things don't get old YOU do

You know what used to be the most thrilling thing ever when I was 20ish?  I loved staying up all night getting in a car and just going. No idea where to or for what purpose was just along for the ride and prepared to go wherever life takes me.

Now I still can do this heading into 30, but it's not the same.  I need direction have to have a plan set forth. What used to be a nightly adventure now just seems like being lost. Well either that or it would appear that I'm running away from my problems. Oh how things change as you enter a new decade of life. Oh well anyone down for a last minute road trip need to squeeze one out before I become to old a responsible to enjoy it. Ok cool let's all go, but not to far after all I do have work in the morning *sigh*
