So what straight men watch glee out there?

And if so do u watch it for them? Or is it just the music?.....

Word works

Imagine a world with no vivid images. Nothing to capture the eye no Imagination to be used no dreams to be ignited. Life being nothing more then a vacuum of the same old thing on constant repeat. That is the thing my nightmares are made of. A world just waiting for a thinker a dreamer a true artist to come a long and change things.
So the true question is what type of Art it would take to right this world. Pictures Sounds or simply words strung together to make the mind active? My money is on the written word as it can be an integral part in ALL creative medium.

What's old is new again

Love me some rock music. Fortunately two of my favorite bands released new albums this year.

Yes that right I ran out and bought Blink today and I must say I'm happy I did. Finally my truck is filled with sounds other then Foo Fighters or Eminem. I buy music rarely, but when I do invest I believe I make solid decisions as what would be worth listening to. What makes me sad is my change of taste these days.

Blink isn't the only former favorite to release new material, but my former faves brought forth material that, though honest to their original sound, I just didn't feel myself getting into. This being the fact has made me question has my taste completely changed with age. I used to live and die musically based on a handful of artists: Staind, ICP, Eminem, and a collage of works from the Offspring, Green Day, Chili Peppers, and Foo. Now looking at my traveling CDs (yes I said CDs! I refuse to fold to Steve Jobs and his world dominating devices of control! Written on my iPad) I only bring along things done by Foo Fighters, Eminem and now Blink. Staind and AFI formerly my favorite artists don't even come close to making the cut for non radio listening, oddly enough AFI fueled electronica group BlaqAudio makes the cute when I feel like dancing though. (side note: by dance I mean slide my butt back and forth in my seat. Ya know like a dog with a funky itch.) though I can still fake some Juggalo swagger I'm so far outside of the Psychopathic Family it's mind-blowing to ever think I was one of them.
I guess what it all breaks down to is, 30 is as farm from 20 as humanly possible so it's only sensible for tastes to change. What I must recognize is those changes don't mean I'm in any way a different person they I ever was. I'm still the one and only D and the young D is still in me. Oh also recognizing things change with age this will be the last post where I ever make any mention of my quote unquote SWAGGER. Never again shall I type any form of Swagger or Swag. I'm far to mature to speak of the swagga as it's an ignorant word to begin with. As most have retired CRUNK from their vocabulary let me be the first to start the death of SWAGGER.

Sounds good to me

The sound of greatness can be heard all around. You know what you like and like what you know. Never doubt your tastes. Everyone is energized by something different all the time. We all have different tastes I mean there are hardcore polka lovers in this world. Polka for goodness sake. That's fine and dandy and I say more power to them. I on the other hand loves me some classic rock, punk rock, and/or hip-hop. Oh and most things comedy get me going and smiling on the regular.

Modern music is the greatest gift the mysterious alien race who secretly controls us bestowed upon us, after fire and of course political humor(and by political humor I mean politics in general cuz 90% of the time it's all a big you've got to be kidding me moment). So yes bring on the bands, the choirs, the ensembles, the rhythm sections and everything else in between.
Now let's get to the real, everyone has a band group or an artist they are ashamed of loving and/or enjoying. Different artists strike different chords during different points in our lives. Some are amazingly bad, amazingly talentless or maybe they are just amazingly ill timed. Whatever the reason you hide your love from the masses as not to open yourself up for the forthcoming ridicule. I have no shame to my game, I've rocked ICP proudly for over a decade now while not a single friend of mine has truly understood the love.

Sadly though they are misunderstood they are far from my musical shame. I'm talking groups like Junior Senior whose album I to this day have no idea why I purchased it but at the time I was all about shaking my coconuts until the nut falls out. Or the super popularity of being BLUE da bo de da bo di. Of course like many others of my graduating class (go 1999 last of the millennium baby!) I was suckered in by Fred Durst and is band of loud ass sellouts better known as Limp Bizkit. Don't care who you are if you are in and around my age group you found yourself Rollin' Rollin' BreakN Stuff or N 2Gether now. Goes to show you one mans embarrassing garbage is another man's platinum album.

The music speaks...

Tone melody tunes and harmonies. Life is good when you have something to listen to. Music means so much to so many. That being said it makes me wonder why there are so many in this world out to destroy the gift of music. No, not religious fanatics or the tone deaf kids on the singing competition shows.
The true assassins of the great gift are the horrible artists who invade the airwaves with their so called versions of music.

You cannot turn on the radio (satellite or free) without this noise pollution invading ears all around the country. There is a wave of artists hitting us with their so called talent and/or skillz. During the lasts days of the record industry so they imply (slumping sales, piracy, and every other excuse the industry comes up with) how is it right auto tune and weak lyrics rule the day?

The plague of bad is across the board. Rappers who bring beats not words. (check out Syllables by Eminem featuring the remaining bit of good left in the industry. The song sums up the state of hip-hop/rap quite well). Pop artists who bring the party but are amazingly light on talent (yes even worse then all the crap the 80s had to offer combined). Country crooners who have nothing real to go on about (what do 15 year olds know about love and 50 year olds know about being the life of the party). Rock has gone to the whiny bitch boys who used to not be allowed within 50 feet of the art. The macho rock god of the past has given way to the whiny teenager crying over lost love or maybe stuck tampon. (skinny jeans and baby tee aren't proper attire to rock out in. Unless you truly do own a vagina). I'd talk about jazz but who really pays attention to it anymore. Besides everyone in the genre has seemed to be the same for the last few decades. Though with the lack of mainstream attention it is probably the last refuge for a true artist to express themselves freely.
Yes it's a sad day for the state of music and it's many lovers. Alas gentle readers there is hope. From every child that picks up their first guitar, every boy and girl who sings in front of the mirror, every time someone shows real promise in their music class (before the school shuts it down for lack of funding); these are the moments that give me real hope. So anyone with any talent or at least some potential sing a little song, write a new rhyme, dance an epic dance, and dream of something greater the world depends on you for this.
